Italian rescuers mentioned that seven Syrian migrants survived a shipwreck about 10 miles from the island of Lampedusa, within the Central Mediterranean. The survivors informed officers that 21 fellow vacationers, together with three minors, had fallen off in the course of the crossing due to tough seas.
