Mars is getting a style of human life earlier than any person has ever even been there.

NASA reported Wednesday that its Perseverance Mars Rover had noticed “something unexpected”: a bit of litter on the floor of the purple planet.

The particles was a bit of a thermal blanket that NASA scientists consider might have fallen off throughout the rover’s descent. The robotic explorer was wrapped within the materials to regulate its temperature.

Perseverance touched down on Mars in February 2021, marking NASA’s ninth mission to the planet. According to the robotic’s Twitter bio, its hobbies are pictures, gathering rocks, and off-roading.

So far, solely unmanned spacecraft have traveled to Mars, however NASA is hoping to land the primary people on Mars by the 2030s.
