QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — The tallest mountain within the Galapagos islands was erupting on Friday, spewing lava down its flanks and clouds of ash over the Pacific Ocean, in line with Ecuador’s Geophysical Institute.

A cloud of gasoline and ash from Wolf Volcano rose to 3,793 meters (12,444 ft) above sea stage following the eruption that started shortly earlier than midnight Wednesday native time, the Institute mentioned.
